I have been interested in learning to fly for a long time. Over a year ago I took the discovery flight and that was amazing!!! I signed up with this school to obtain my PPL licence and so far
I got what I wanted: in a no nonsense environment you will receive training in theoretical and practical skills to become a pilot for a reasonable price. The staff is extremely friendly and always willing to help. I can recommend Executive Flight and its staff to you if you want to become a pilot as well !!

Hallo, ik ben Koen Derks en ik heb hier een kort verhaaltje over mijn ervaring met Executive Flight.

Ik ben met Executive Flight in aanraking gekomen toen ik 3 proefvluchten in een Cessna 150 voor mijn verjaardag kreeg. Dit om eens te kijken of vliegen wat voor mij is, aangezien ik al een tijd lang overweeg een opleiding tot verkeersvlieger te beginnen. Na een gesprek met Henry Blommers had ik al meteen een goed gevoel. Wat ik wel jammer vond toen, was dat Henry meer tegen mijn vader praatte dan tegen mij. Op dat moment voelde ik me er wat minder bij betrokken. Dit was gelukkig niet het geval toen ik mijn 1e vlucht ging maken. Ik vloog toen met de instructeur Marc Dunias, een jonge instructeur die lekker nuchter overkwam. Aangezien ik zelf ook pas 18 jaar ben vond ik het prettig dat ik iemand had die niet heel veel ouder is dan ik. De 2e en de 3e vlucht waren met Frank Folmer, een iets oudere instructeur maar ook weer heel relaxed en nuchter zoals Marc. Na die 3 vluchten ben ik lang gaan nadenken over de stap om te beginnen met de cursus. Wat ik heel belangrijk vind is het hebben van een back-up plan, mocht het niks worden met het vliegen. En ik wilde dus in ieder geval mijn huidige studie kunnen combineren met de PPL cursus. Ik heb toch besloten om door te gaan, ondanks het feit dat ik nu erg veel tijd kwijt ben aan studie en vliegen.

In het proces om me aan te melden voor het theoriegedeelte en hoe alles in zijn werk ging, werd ik geholpen door Marc Dunias. Ik vind dat ik goed begeleid ben door dit proces en als ik vragen had kon ik die altijd stellen. Toen ik alle benodigde spullen kreeg voor het vliegen bleek dat er een aantal onderdelen ontbraken. Maar ik had dat niet goed meegekregen, ik had het fijner gevonden als dat iets beter gecommuniceerd was.

Op dat kleine puntje na ben ik heel tevreden over mijn ervaring met EFA-operations. Ik vind het heel leuk en heb het heel erg naar mijn zin! Binnenkort ga ik voor de progress test “General Flying” en hebben we een toets over radiotelephony, dus rustig doorwerken.

My flying career started as an RAF voluntary reserve officer flying tail dragger de Havilland Chipmunks whilst I studied Applied Physics at Strathclyde University, Glasgow. That was back in 1973/74. After graduation I chose for the oil industry over the military, ending up as a VP for Shell in the Netherlands. So, on retirement and after a break of 42 !! years from flying, I chose to regain my “wings” with Executive Flight, starting the PPL course from scratch. A bit like riding a bike.
I picked up the old skills quite quickly through the help of an incredibly enthusiastic group of flight instructors who provide high quality, safe instruction which is also great fun. All instruction and theory can be given in english which suites me …. and costs are very reasonable ! Even een kort verhaaltje over mijn eerste solo vanaf vliegveld Hoevenen en mijn ervaringen met Executive Flight.
Ik ben begonnen met het theoretische gedeelte van de PPL cursus. Ik keek erg uit naar mijn eerste avond theorieles, en heb het erg naar m’n zin gehad. Veel vriendelijke mensen die dezelfde interesses delen. Je wordt altijd goed geholpen als je vragen hebt. Qua rijafstand is het redelijk te doen vanuit de randstad, al sta ik wel af en toe in de file.
Lessen zijn erg leerzaam. Ik had al aardig wat voorkennis, met name uit mijn ervaring als eerste stuurman op een zeevarend schip. Verder is het natuurlijk thuis veel leren en veel oefenvragen maken. Er is gaat wel een stuk meer tijd in zitten dan ik dacht, vooral in de wat taaiere vakken als luchtvaartwetgeving en operationele procedures.
M’n eerste vlucht was in een Evektor Sportstar. Erg spannend! In het begin erg wennen aan de besturing (plotseling heb je een roer aan je voeten) en het verdelen van aandacht over de verschillende instrumenten. Maar ik pakte dit relatief snel op en kon al snel gaan werken aan de gevorderde manoeuvres zoals stalls en steep turns. Net als bij autorijden gaat het om het opbouwen van automatisme.
Momenteel zit ik in de fase waarin we werken naar de eerste solovlucht. Op de dag dat je solo gaat, doe je eerst nog 3 touch and go’s met je flight instructor. En dan komt het moment dat je voor het eerst alleen bent!! Het is de definitie van vrijheid! Erg leuk! Dan merk je pas hoe licht zo’n vliegtuigje is. Het is fantastisch!
Momenteel ben ik bezig met de voorbereidingen voor mijn theorie examen, hard leren, oefeningen doen en test examens maken. Over een paar maanden ben ik klaar met mijn PPL en dan ga ik stappen zetten richting het ATPL bij Executive Flight
Heb erg veel zin in 2016. Voor mij is het een erg leuk jaar geweest!

Toen ik bezig was met het zoeken naar een vliegschool kwam ik al snel uit bij Executive flight. Ik werd gelijk goed geholpen en kon al mijn vragen stellen. Ook vond ik het erg fijn om te horen dat ik op mijn eigen tempo kan leren en dat ik zelf mijn lessen kan inplannen. Tot nu toe bevalt de opleiding erg goed, vooral de vlieglessen zijn erg leerzaam en vooral heel erg leuk!

Hey, my name is Marek Stinissen and this is flight school experience.

In 2018, I was trying to follow my dream, to become a pilot. While looking for places that would grand me this wish and the opportunity, I was obviously shocked about the prices. After a lot of digging, I received an ad about Executive flights. At first, I was very sceptical, and the prices looked too cheap almost. In 2019 I met up with Henry Blommers. We had a long chat about the financial factors and the time it would take to start this adventure, he was very direct and told me how the aviation world works.  After a lot of my question and explaining I was confident and had an idea how it all worked. It was great to have a chat about it all and shortly after I had my first test flight in Antwerpen. this went great and I enjoyed the experience. The instructor was very young which made me feel more confident if he can do it than I can.

After some practical flights, I decided to finish my theory lessons first, so I could progress faster in the practical flying. Every week I drove 1 hour and 40 minutes to our classroom which was no factor for me. It is easy to combine with a part-time job and you can also save a lot of money while doing this! Although sometimes the planning could be a little messy due to the amount of pilots that wanted to fly the main cheap Cessna 152. this problem doesn’t exist anymore because the fleet is increased. I feel the school has evolved a lot in the last years. sadly the weather can also be unforgiving and COVID-19 hasn’t helped in the amount of flight time I could get. But as always after rain comes sunshine and I recently received my flying license. so time to have a little fun! 🙂

But I’m not ready …. Those were my first thoughts when my flight instructor told me do a full stop landing so he can get out of the airplane. Don’t get me wrong this is why you take up flying, because you want to go solo, and soar through the skies, like.. no not maverick, like an responsible aviator. So when your flight instructor, who is also a full blow airline pilot, decides you are ready, you can trust that you are. But it is the respect for aviation and the construct of flying an aircraft that they teach you from day 1.Flying is a serious activity, not something one should take lightly. Safety and airmanship is vital. And yet here I was, feeling this weird sensation of nervousness coupled with confidence. As if the flight instructor could read my mind, because right before he got out of the aircraft he said: “follow the procedures and just relax, it’s a beautiful day for your first solo “So that is what I did. And from that moment on I knew I was ready. Flight instructors can seem like drill instructors at times, but they only do it with your safety and your future passengers safety in mind.

One particular Flight instructor recently told me, that he always asks himself 1 question before letting a student out in the ‘wild’, and that is, would I let my daughter fly with this pilot in command? So you can be sure that when I think a student is ready, he or she is really ready, even if the student doesn’t think so.

De modulaire opleiding is goed te combineren met een part-time baan wat scheelt in de kosten en de Executiveflight opleiding was ook nog eens stukken voordeliger, zo was het dus makkelijker te financieren dan elders. Na het afronden heb ik gelijk werk kunnen vinden in NL op een Citation CJ4 jet. Een super job waarbij ik ook nog eens heel Europa zie!

Few things in my opinion, but to get there is a hard task that requires discipline and a large investment in money and time.
My name is Ali born in Turkey and raised in the Netherlands, I am 26 years old and always wanted to be a pilot. I sent applications to a couple of integrated flight schools in the Netherlands but unfortunately was unable to get a loan from my current bank to finance the training. I almost gave up hope until my father told me he’d be willing to borrow me a part of the total sum.
Now all I had to do was find a school that suited me best. I discussed it a lot with my younger brother, who is a first officer on B737 in Turkey and completed his training in Phoenix. We both made a few appointments with different schools to have a look around. It’s always good to have a partner with you who knows the ins and outs of the business.
After talking to several schools, my choice went with executive flight academy. At that time I was working fulltime and had limited spare time. Most of the schools I went to had daytime ground school, limited planes and very crowded classes. Also, most of them were quite (very) expensive.
Executive Flight stood out for me because of their focus on flexibility and low cost. After a pleasant and professional conversation with Marc Dunias about my options within the school, it was time for my assessment.
I completed my assessment with good results and also took a few flying lessons to taste how it is to fly. Not long after this I started with the ground school and dove into the theory books.
The ground school provided by Executive Flight consists of weekly theory classes starting at 1900 and a lot of distance learning tools so that you can study efficiently at home. The classes have small groups of people which is a great plus for me, as the instructors have their time to give a lot of attention to each person individually.
I do have to drive big distances to get to the airport and the theory lessons, which can be quite exhausting. But with proper planning it is doable.
After 5 months of ground school I decided I was ready for the practical flying. I discussed this with my instructors who supported me in this. Usually people start with the practical and theoretical training simultaneously. But for me it felt better this way.
I feel I am making good progress, before I knew it I was doing stalls and steep turns above the harbors of Antwerp. Being in the airport environment, communicating with the control towers and navigating through busy airspaces has really proven me that I made the right choice by choosing a career in aviation.

Mijn keuze voor Executive Flight Academy was heel makkelijk, het was de enige school in Nederland die conversies doen van SACAA naar EASA. De instructeurs zijn goed. In het begin kon de communicatie beter in verband met les en examens. De communicatie met de instructeurs is goed. Ik vind het zelf vervelend om steeds met verschillende instructeurs te vliegen, maar ik begrijp hoe dat systeem hier werkt. Sommige dingen zijn nog niet helemaal duidelijk, maar dat komt vooral door KIWA. Hier kan de communicatie ook in worden verbeterd, ik krijg vaak geen antwoord op mijn vragen.

De koop was (ongezien!) gesloten, de inspectie gedaan… Weliswaar door een lokale partij in plaats van onze eigen toekomstige CAMO (onderhoudsbedrijf), maar Covid vraagt om flexibiliteit en daar werd inderdaad veel van verlangd. Een vliegtuig kopen vanaf de bank alsof het niks is. Zoeken als leek op planecheck.com; een nieuwe wereld opende. Bedoeling was dat het een IFR-waardig toestel zou worden en veel C172s hebben nog vrij ouderwetse avionics. Vrij snel viel ons oog op een Deense kist, die aan veel eisen voldeed en in beheer van een vliegschool eigenaar was. Veel Zuid/Oost Europese opties zagen er afgeleefd uit en onderhoud met de Franse/Italiaanse/Spaanse slag is ook niet iets waar je op zit te wachten. De markt in (net als bij huizen) vrij overspannen tegenwoordig, dus erg veel tijd om te treuzelen hadden we niet. We oriënteerden ons op welke upgrades we nog moesten doen (Garmin GNX375) om hem helemaal van deze tijd te maken en hakten de knoop op een zaterdag in Februari door. Grootste twijfel was de motor die “on condition” loopt, dus eigenlijk over zijn toegestane uren heen is. Maar gezien het voornamelijk privé gebruik van de vorige eigenaar vertrouwden we erop dat hij met liefde behandeld was en sloten de koop. Later bleken er veel meer geïnteresseerden na ons te zijn gekomen en dat geeft het idee er een goede koop aan te hebben gedaan.

Het werd 19 maart 2021, de dag dat we de OY-BFP, zoals hij toen nog heette, zouden ferry-en vanuit Roskilde (DK) naar Seppe. Een prachtige (koude) dag in Nederland, maar ter hoogte van Hamburg zou er vanuit het noorden wat buienactiviteit op ons pad komen. Wel/niet, niet/wel, laatste buienradars checken; er leek net een gaatje te zitten tussen twee gebieden waar we wel door zouden kunnen vliegen. De eerste anderhalf uur waren onbewolkt en het was genieten achterin de “experimental” die een student van EFA voor de gelegenheid beschikbaar stelde. In de verte doemden de eerste wolken op en al snel waren we tussen de sneeuwbuien door aan het slalommen. Laag vliegen om onder het 0 graden niveau te blijven was het devies, maar dat was een uitdaging op zich. Kleine vlokjes werden zichtbaar op de vleugels… Het was gelukkig een klein front en al snel werd het weer kalm en stond niets ons meer in de weg. Nou ja, behalve de Covid check dan: regels waren voor meer dan één uitleg interpretabel en het was onduidelijk of een vliegtuig komen ophalen wel een legitieme reden zou zijn om Denemarken te bezoeken. Flight crews waren toegestaan, maar volgens de regels moesten het CPL-houders zijn en dat waren 2 van de 3 inzittenden niet. De douane beambten waren vriendelijk en na een paspoort en testbewijs controle mochten we verder taxiën naar de vliegschool waarvan we kist overnamen.

Na de gebruikelijke kopjes koffie, handtekeningen en kleine rondleiding aldaar kwam het moment van vertrek. Volgetankt moesten we de 3,5 uur durende terugvlucht makkelijk kunnen halen: lang leve de endurance (6 uur) van de C172! Een beetje onwennig initieel, maar na een uurtje voelde het vertrouwd onder de restanten van het eerder genoemde frontje door te vliegen om visueel met de grond te blijven. Daarna onder goede omstandigheden op de grens van land en zee cruisen en

Unlike most people, becoming a commercial pilot became my goal early in my twenties. It was like a spontaneous thought that grew up into a solid goal down the line. Looking through all the schools in Europe, it became clear to me that becoming a pilot will most likely mean leaving my job and everything that I have acquired this far (for a second time in my life). However, finding ExecutiveFlight changed the whole situation. Very surprisingly they were offering very low prices, in the country with the most expensive flights schools in Europe. Next to it, they were the only school that didn’t require Dutch for their courses. After getting in touch with the school, it was immediately clear to me that they are the perfect match because of the high flexibility they provide. For me, it meant that, keeping my way of living and my job was an option. It was clear that doing so would be a very challenging and demanding endeavor, but together with ExecutiveFlight we’ve managed to find the right solution. Fast forward to today, I have my PPL completed, ATPL theory is in my pocket and I am looking forward to completing my IR in the not so far future. It is worth to note, that when most schools got completely closed during COVID, ExecuitveFlight managed to find a way to continue my training, to allow me to meet the time goals that I have set for myself.

I love the no-nonsense and practical approach the instructors at Executive Flight have. I also appreciate I got to fly with several different instructors from different backgrounds. They all bring unique perspectives and I keep learning new insights from them. At my first introduction flight I got a taste of what the end goal should be, and I thought I would never be able to do all of that by myself, but they guided me step by step and before I knew it I was actually doing it all by myself. I have my PPL now and am ready for the next steps in my aviation career.

After moving to the Netherlands as an American PPL holder, I sought to convert to a European PPL and did not know how to proceed. Other flight schools either did not know how to do this or wouldn’t even reply to my e-mails, but EFA researched my options and quickly set up a training schedule at EHSE to prepare for the practical exam, while also ensuring I was prepared for the oral theory exam.

During training, unfortunately the Cessna 152 went out of service, and though the flight school did their best to address this problem, it still was an inconvenience and delayed my license. However, I understand that in general aviation, these things happen and it’s unpredictable sometimes.

Eventually, after finding a suitable replacement aircraft, EFA did the hard work of navigating regulations and the Dutch CAA to find me an examiner and set up my exam. Thanks to the hard work and expertise of flight instructors Bob and Tamas, I have now passed my PPL exam and am a significantly better and safer pilot.

As a child I already dreamt of flying, but pursued my other dreams first. If I would have known how incredibly cool flying is, I guess my professional career would have looked like differently. Getting a PPL, next to a job, is a demanding task. For me at least, flying is a hobby and consequently sometimes other tasks have to be given priority. I appreciate the openness and flexibility at Executive Flight to handle this balance. You get to fly from different airports, and they handle the winter/summer season well to get the most out of it (theory and practice). Through WhatsApp, phone and e-mail the flight instructors can always be contacted in case of questions or by scheduling some time before the weekly plenary lessons.

Toen ik besloten had om een PPL opleiding te gaan doen ben ik verschillende vliegscholen gaan vergelijken. Uiteindelijk heb ik gekozen voor Executive Flight omdat het echt insiders zijn in de general aviation. Wat me goed bevalt is de flexibiliteit in het trainingsprogramma en de ervaren theorie en praktijk instructeurs.  De opleiding is niet schools dus eigen initiatief en zelfstudie is nodig, maar dat mag uiteraard verwacht worden van studenten die naast hun normale werk/studie een PPL opleiding gaan doen. Ook is de opleiding op professioneel
niveau en niet op het minimaal nodige zodat je erna ook in staat bent meer te doen als alleen een korte lokale vlucht. Ir. Bart Thissen.

Mijn ervaring met Executive Flight Academy: Ik ben vanaf het eerste moment erg enthousiast over de dienstverlening, het lesgeven en de passie bij de mensen van de Executive Flight Academy. Ik doe de ATPL-opleiding voornamelijk als hobby en liep tegen een aantal hobbels aan bij het bestuderen van de theorie, daar ben ik enorm bij geholpen door Marc Dunias, een goede leraar voor mij, hij kan mij de stof duidelijk en op een inspirerende manier verhelderen waardoor ik meer plezier heb gekregen in de bestudering van de theorie.
Ook de praktijklessen in de SIM met Henry Blommers zijn een genot tot nu toe, ik word op scherp gezet en kom bij de grenzen van mijn workload maar het blijft binnen de grenzen van het stretchen waardoor ik enorm leer.
Ik vind de flexibiliteit, het hoge kwaliteitsniveau, de klantgerichtheid en de passie voor het vliegen top. Wat beter kan is de planning en het (anticiperend) organiseren. Ik kan iedereen aanraden om een van de vliegopleidingen bij Executive Flight Academy te gaan volgen en ben uiteraard graag bereid om een live referentie af te geven!

Being 36 and wanting to switch careers: from the financial business to aviation. Navigation and weather had always my interest and combined with technique, planning and physics flying covers a very wide spectrum of what makes life interesting. But with 2 young children it is not all so straight forward: doing an integrated ATPL doesn’t match with spending time with the family. So looking for a modular course in came across EFA and started PPL training in 2019. Now I have almost 150 hours in the books, all 14 subjects of ATPL theory are passed and I am progressing through my Instrument Rating. Although Covid made motivation fade away for a while (what is the need of progressing fast if there is no plane in the sky to fly), I am currently learning a lot again and soon we will fly for an overnight trip to France to see many different Instrument approaches and start the Night Rating. Where this journey will end is still a big question mark, since no guarantees are given in aviation a things change every day. With the recently increased fleet and team of instructors I’m confident EFA can facilitate a successful completion of my ATPL course.

Zelf was ik op zoek naar een vliegschool waar ik mijn PPL en ATPL op mijn eigen tempo kon behalen. Na wat speurtochten op het internet ben ik terecht gekomen bij Executive Flight Academy. De overzichtelijke website die alles tot in detail uitlegt over de opleiding is een zekere plus. Na een intakegesprek met Henry Blommers en Koen Derks wist ik snel genoeg dat ik aan het goede adres zat. Executive Flight Academy is een fijne vliegschool om je PPL en ATPL brevetten te halen. Elke dinsdag avond is er een meeting waar we  klassikaal al het theorie nog een langs gaan. Dit heb ik als zeer positief ervaren omdat je toch tegen bepaalde lastige onderwerpen aan loopt tijdens het studeren. Naast dat die meetings zeer leerzaam zijn, is het ook een moment voor socializen met medestudenten, praten over ervaringen, navigatie vluchten, landingen, leuke general aviation fields en natuurlijk de solo’s. Executive flight Academy is zeer professioneel, fijne instructeurs, snelle service en altijd bereikbaar.

Flying an airplane was my dream when I was a child, but because of many reasons, I chose different from a professional pilot career. For many years, it was just half-forgotten dream until I realized that the world changed since the times of my childhood and many restrictions for becoming a pilot do not exist anymore.

Having made a quick search in the Internet, I found out that it was indeed possible to learn flying and get a PPL license. I thought that I should take this chance.  On a short notice, I made an appointment with Executive Flight Academy for an introductory flight when I tried first time in my life to fly a light airplane. Cessna 152 is a small and simple aircraft, but it took me to the air and obeyed my controls! It was simultaneously big fun, thrilling and exciting feeling.  I immediately decided that this was something that I wanted to learn. Therefore, after many years I sat again at the student’s desk.

I have chosen Executive Flight Academy for learning how to fly, and do not regret about my choice. The company offers a flexible rhythm of studying. For older students like me, it is sometimes necessary to take more time to study some course. Here at EFA it is always possible. This is important for those who have a job and do not have much free time. On the other hand, younger students who can fly more frequently can get the license quite quickly.

Theoretical course is not difficult, but requires some discipline. With a good motivation, it is easy. And here at EFA I did not meet anybody without motivation. Essential part of the learning process is self-study. Any questions are discussed in weekly seminars in a friendly atmosphere.  At EFA you can expect individual approach. I am flying with many instructors and all of them actually offered me to ask questions, whenever I would have them.  I appreciate that very much.

I continue my study and I am looking forward to the future. Despite my study became longer than I originally expected, partly because of interruptions due to COVID restrictions, I am sure that I will get my PPL soon. I would like to thank to the Executive Flight Academy for making the old dream true!

I am currently a PPL(A) student with Executive Flight Academy. I just had my first solo flight after 20 flight hours. Starting this adventure has been the best decision I made in decades. Learning to fly has been inspirational, challenging, relaxing, beautiful, fun and miraculous. If I am able to get my license with EFA i will be eternally grateful.
EFA has been great to work with. I can schedule my own lessons and basically choose my instructor (depending on availability). In my experience, all instructors have their own way of teaching, focus and priorities. Sometimes, this takes some getting used to, but allows for great flexibility and tailoring to my own preferences and needs. I have also found that the instructors and teachers are always available (via e-mail) for answering additional questions. They are very knowledgeable and thorough. They are all great people and I actually feel I made some friends.
Every single lesson has included a new experience for me.

I also enjoyed the theory classes. I barely have any people in my daily life that are involved with aviation so it is great to have some peers to share your passion with. The classes provide a nice introduction to the subjects and are a great moment to ask questions. I, however, would prefer that the theory schedule was more spread out and/or more in depth as i need more time to work through the subjects textbooks than the classes themselves take. They pale in scope compared to the actually required level of knowledge. Self study is absolutely essential and, i think, more effective than the theory classes. That said, i have never felt alone nor unable to work through the material. The support I’ve had is great.

I have, as of yet, only flown from Breda International Airport. I have not been able to use cheaper alternatives as much as i would have liked. For technical reasons I have flown the Cessna 172 instead of the Cessna 152 more than anticipated. For these and similar unforeseen circumstances cost are higher than i thought the would be. I suppose this is normal in aviation. However, i am not convinced the quote on the website is entirely realistic.

Nevertheless it has been an awesome experience and great value.
